Dear Patient,
We are writing to inform you of a change in our insurance network at Helios Specialty Healthcare. Effective November 18, 2026, Helios Specialty Healthcare will be out of network with all Aetnainsurance plans, including commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. We remain willing toprovide care to Aetna members where permitted, but coverage and out-of-pocket costs willdepend on each patient’s plan. Some plans may provide limited or no out-of-network coverage for nonemergency services.
This decision has come because of a significant increase in our costs related to Aetna plan rules over multiple years, coupled with an unsuccessful lengthy negotiation with Aetna. Despite the increasing costs of staffing, drug costs, and IT infrastructure, our providers will not receive a contractual increase in reimbursement from Aetna. Aetna pays Helios Specialty Healthcare well below market norms and below our operating costs. Our goal will always be to provide high-quality ENT, Neurosurgery, Pain Management, Radiation Oncology, and Urology care in the most cost-effective setting. Unfortunately, we are unable to accomplish that with Aetna.
We recognize that this change may affect your healthcare decisions, and we welcome the
opportunity to continue caring for you when your coverage and circumstances permit. Please
contact Aetna using the member services number on your insurance card to confirm your out-of-network benefits, any authorization requirements, and your potential financial responsibility. If you are currently receiving ongoing treatment or have a procedure scheduled on or after November 18, 2026, please contact our office so the appropriate team can review your situation and discuss potential continuity-of-care options. Any exception or coverage determination is subject to Aetna’s approval.
