The Audiology Technician supports audiologists and ENT providers by performing technical, clerical, and patient-care tasks in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include assisting with hearing screenings, maintaining and troubleshooting hearing aids, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring efficient clinic operations. This role is essential to delivering a high standard of hearing healthcare and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or coursework in healthcare, audiology, or related field preferred
Qualifications & Experience
- Prior experience in a healthcare or audiology setting is a plus, but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with patients of all ages, including children and seniors
- Proficient with computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures
Responsibilities
- Assist audiologists in conducting basic hearing screenings and audiologic evaluations
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for audiologic procedures
- Perform hearing aid cleaning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs
- Support hearing aid fittings by managing inventory, batteries, and accessories
- Instruct patients on the proper care and use of hearing aids and assistive devices
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Ensure all equipment is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly
- Provide front-office support, including scheduling, insurance verification, and follow-up calls as needed
- Attend regular organizational meetings and continuing education as requested
- Performs additional duties as requested
Typical Physical Demands:
This position involves standing and walking. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. Employee will work under fast-paced conditions and may work irregular hours.
Standard Working Conditions:
Normal medical office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
