Karen Yonick is a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in surgical specialties, critical care, and clinical research. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Michigan.
Karen has worked in a variety of surgical settings, including general, vascular, colorectal, plastic, and neurosurgery, as well as intensive care. Her expertise includes pre- and post-operative patient management, first assist in the operating room, and performing bedside procedures such as central lines, chest tubes, and arterial line placements. She has held advanced practice roles at leading VA medical centers and academic institutions, where she contributed to surgical team workflows, resident education, and quality improvement initiatives.
In addition to her clinical work, Karen has participated in published research and national conference presentations focused on improving surgical documentation and patient care protocols. She is known for her collaborative approach, clinical precision, and dedication to advancing surgical outcomes.
In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family and stays active with CrossFit and Pickleball.
