The Dizziness and Balance Center, a division of Sound Health Services, is a clinic designed to identify the cause of dizziness and vertigo and manage dizziness related to the inner ear and balance system.
At the center, the Audiologists and Otolaryngologists work closely together to provide the best patient care for those experiencing dizziness and vertigo.
Vestibular Audiologists begin the appointment with a thorough dizziness and balance questionnaire and history report.
We provide several tests during the appointment, as prescribed by your ENT Physician:
1) Videonystagmography (VNG) which tests the inner ear as well as central motor function and measures the movements of the eyes directly through infrared camera goggles.
2) Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), which provides information about the inferior vestibular nerve.
3) Electrocochleography Testing (ECochG) which tests the ear’s ability to regulate salt and fluid and is used to test for Meniere’s Disease
4) Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) used to look at the hearing nerve from inner ear to lower brainstem.
The Vestibular Audiologists are also trained in performing canalith repositioning maneuvers for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV.
We also work closely with ten physical therapists around the St. Louis area who specialize in vestibular rehabilitation.
